How long should it take to start noticing a difference (physically and visually) in my weight and body shape, from working out? I'm 35 yrs old, 5'6 and weigh about 131, I had always been thin and never needed to work out but....seven yrs into a relationship can change everything. I went from 112 lbs to 136 lbs; I stopped being active and started being a couch potatoe. Now we are going on our honeymoon and I want to look and feel better. I started to work out 1.5 months ago and I don't feel any better and I don't look any better; I started at a slow pace on my treadmill and then incorporated strength training on my Total Gym. For one month it was every other day, I would either walk or do the strength training, then I started the next month with one day treadmill and the next total gym. I weigh myself Mon @ 131 lbs and Tues I weigh 134 lbs...and then down again the next day? I have changed my eating habbits, I've added fruits and veggies along with a small meal for dinner...whatever my bf cooks that night. I feel my muscles getting more tone but the fat dimples seem to be multiplying and amplifing???Now I work out every night, one day Treadmill the next Total Gym for M-F and take S-S off...what am I doing wrong and how can I get this FAT OFF!!??

If you have a very high calorie deficit, your body starts eating down your muscle. So if I am eating 500 calories a day, my body eats muscle for energy. What if this 500 calories has 120g of protein? (Yes, this is possible. Turkey has 12g protein per 50 calories.

Then will my body burn fat instead?

I've been using a homemade sauna suit witch consists of a poncho/trash bag, 2 shirts, and 2 light jackets for a little less than a week now. I've been eating right like salads, water, etc. I was wondering since after I sweat like a fat guy stranded in a desert after jogging approximately a mile or so I would lose weight. Or maybe it's just water weight. Please tell if this is the right thing to do.
P.S. I always rehydrate after the exercise. Thanks!

i am a 16 year old girl just about to get off of prednisone (hopefully), and i have gained 10-20 pounds (including the whole "moon face/chipmunk cheeks" affect) since december.
i am so excited to get off of it and hopefully get rid of this embarrassing weight that i hear is mostly water retention.
prednisone, for those that aren't familiar with it, has a lot of side effects and one is increased appetite. whenever i was hungry i would reach for some unsalted tortilla chips/salsa, fat-free yogurt, a small slice of cheese, or some fruit. my meals are always low-fat compared to many other americans because i eat homemade, lean dishes and the most i ever eat fast-food is once every few months, so my weight gain couldn't be TOO MUCH fat.

so basically my concern is how quickly can i lose this weight? i cannot do running/jumping exercises due to my arthritis (the whole reason i was even on prednisone)
does water weight drop on it's own, or do i need to work for it?

please help me, because as you probably know, kids are cruel and i have been picked on because of my big, round face on my used-to-be-fairly-thin body. it's severely bruised my self-esteem which wasn't that high to begin with (can't help it though, im just a teenager)
does water weight drop fast? how fast? help me, please!
and thank you!
SO MUCH.

Warning this may get a little long...
Hello, I'm 20 years old and extremely overweight. I'm about 5'8" and Weigh aprox. 300lbs (I know crazy) I've been overweight all my life and have extremely low self esteem due to the fact that Middle school children are jerks and teased me throughout those horrible 3 years. After all that I kinda sunk into my own little world full of video games, Internet friends, and, your guessed it, Junk food. I've tried losing weight but I'm SO embarrassed about it that I make it more complicated than it should be. Right now I live in Burbank, CA (far from the comforts of seeing at least one other fat person a day). I'm so embarrassed to do anything to try and lose weight to the point that I don't even want my fiance to know I'm not happy with my weight and want a change. On top of that, we're on an extremely limited budget and it seems all those Organic foods and this and that that everyone mentions is too expensive. Plus I have this little voice in the back of my head saying "don't buy a bunch of healthy stuff, they'll be on to you". I live in a tiny apartment with no room to actually exercise in and I refuse to exercise around my family (well not so much refuse as I'm just scared to) We have a park down the road where people go to run and jog but I'm afraid to go there to exercise because I feel like if they see me run my measly little fat girl distance I'm gonna be laughed at or judged or have people talking about me behind my back. I know pathetic right? I also don't know where to start on eating better. Honestly, I don't eat a lot. Most days I'll have something small for lunch and then dinner, Other days it's just dinner and I don't have an appetite throughout the day.

Oh yeah and I smoke a lot, which may contribute to my appetite loss because whenever I feel hungry I just light up a cigarette and the hunger goes away. In my head, the less I eat the better, but I know that does more harm than good.

So I guess what I'm asking is, what CAN I do to lose this weight. I want to be at a healthy weight before I go to have children, plus I want to be healthy, I want to be able to look good and feel good and be able to wear whatever I want instead of having to choose from the Fat girl selection. I can't exercise In my house because there's not enough room, I'm scared to death to exercise outside because I feel like I'm being watched and the park closes at night so That too is out of the option. Or possibly I'm just making excuses. I would love to be able to go to the gym but it's wicked expensive and I don't even have a job right now.

Even more to add is that I feel like I have no energy. No motivation. I can sit and think about how I need to do this and that but when the time comes I procrastinate and hop on the computer and screw off all day. I also just moved out here to California and don't know anyone, so there goes the buddy system for losing weight. I really need help but don't know where to turn. Anyone else have any problems like this in the past that could give me some advice?

And please, No rude or harassing comments. I want some honest help here, Is there anywhere I can go that will help me? Also I'm on the GR program, do any of you know of any gyms that offer discounts to those on GR? Please I'm desperate.
